Description

Crispy and flavorful Garlic Pepper Chicken Wings baked to golden perfection and tossed in a savory garlic and cracked black pepper sauce. This easy recipe combines a light flour coating with a fragrant garlic pepper drizzle, perfect for a delicious appetizer or game day snack.

Ingredients

Chicken Wings Coating

  • 3 lbs chicken wings
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons seasoning salt

Cooking Oils

  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 6 tablespoons olive oil

Garlic Pepper Sauce

  • 8 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 3 teaspoons fresh cracked black pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Set it aside.
  2. Coat the Wings: In a bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. In another bowl or resealable plastic bag, combine the all-purpose flour and seasoning salt. Dip each chicken wing into the egg mixture, then transfer to the flour mixture and shake to coat thoroughly. Place coated wings on a plate and let them rest for 15 minutes to help the coating set.
  3. Bake the Wings: Arrange the coated wings evenly on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle the canola oil over the wings to help them crisp up. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, turn the wings over and continue to bake for another 15 to 20 minutes until they are browned and cooked through.
  4. Prepare Garlic Pepper Sauce: While the wings bake, heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until it becomes fragrant, about 30 seconds to 1 minute, being careful not to burn it. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the vinegar, fresh cracked black pepper, kosher salt, and granulated garlic to create the sauce.
  5. Toss Wings in Sauce and Serve: Once the wings are fully cooked, use tongs to transfer the hot wings into the skillet or a mixing bowl with the garlic pepper sauce. Toss the wings thoroughly to coat them in the flavorful sauce. Serve the wings hot, enjoying their crispy texture and bold garlic pepper flavor.

Notes

  • Allowing the coated chicken wings to rest before baking helps the flour coating adhere better, resulting in crispier wings.
  • Be careful not to overcook the garlic in the sauce to avoid bitterness.
  • For extra crispiness, you can broil the wings for 1-2 minutes at the end of baking, watching closely to prevent burning.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of black pepper and garlic to suit your taste preferences.
