Description

Create colorful and fun Rainbow Marshmallows using skittles to coat large marshmallows on sticks. This easy and vibrant treat is perfect for parties, kids’ snacks, or a playful dessert that adds a burst of fruity flavor and bright colors to classic marshmallows.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 2 bags of Skittles, individual size (or several pouches of fun sized Skittles)
  • 1 bag of large marshmallows (regular large, not extra large)
  • Water (for dipping)
  • Sucker sticks (for skewering marshmallows)
  • Foam block or Styrofoam block (for drying marshmallow pops)

Instructions

  1. Separate Skittles by Color: Using multiple bowls, separate the Skittles by their colors. This is a fun and engaging step, perfect for involving kids if you’d like. Take care to keep the colors separate without mixing.
  2. Grind Skittles into Powder: Starting with the lightest color, grind the Skittles into a fine powder using a high-powered blender or grinder. After grinding one color, return the powder to its own bowl. Repeat this process with each color from lightest to darkest.
  3. Prepare Marshmallow Pops: Insert a sucker stick approximately 3/4 of the way into each large marshmallow securely to create marshmallow pops.
  4. Dip Marshmallows in Water: Quickly dip each marshmallow pop into a cup of water to moisten the surface, which will help the Skittles powder stick better.
  5. Remove Excess Water: Gently towel off the marshmallow or shake off any excess water to avoid sogginess while maintaining a damp surface for coating.
  6. Coat with Skittles Powder: Spoon the Skittles powder over the damp marshmallows, fully and evenly covering the surface with the colorful powder.
  7. Dry the Marshmallow Pops: Place the coated marshmallow pops upright into a foam or Styrofoam block. Allow them to dry completely before serving or packaging to ensure the coating sets well.

Notes

  • For best results, use individual-size Skittles for easy color sorting and powdering.
  • Ensure the marshmallows are only lightly dampened to avoid them becoming soggy.
  • Utilizing a foam or Styrofoam block helps keep the marshmallow pops upright to dry evenly.
  • This recipe is a fun, no-bake treat perfect for parties or celebrations.
  • If you don’t have a high-powered blender, a spice grinder or coffee grinder may work for pulverizing the Skittles into powder.
