Description

These Pizza Waffles are a fun and creative twist on traditional pizza, combining the crispy texture of waffles with melty mozzarella, mini pepperoni slices, and Italian seasoning. Perfect as a quick snack or party appetizer, they are easy to prepare using refrigerated biscuit dough and cooked in a waffle maker for just minutes.

Ingredients

Pizza Waffle Ingredients

  • 1 (16.3-ounce) can refrigerated Pillsbury™ Grands!™ Flaky Layers Original Biscuits (8 Count)
  • 12 slices mozzarella cheese, cut into quarters
  • ½ cup mini pepperoni slices
  • Italian seasoning, to taste
  • 1 (14-ounce) jar pizza sauce, warmed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the waffle maker: Spray the waffle maker with cooking spray and heat it to medium-high temperature, ensuring it’s hot enough to cook the pizza waffles evenly.
  2. Assemble the pizza waffles: Separate the biscuit dough into 8 individual biscuits. Carefully peel each biscuit in half; the dough should separate easily once you start. On one half, place 6 quarters of mozzarella cheese (equivalent to 1½ slices), then add 8-10 mini pepperoni slices. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning. Cover with the other half of the biscuit and firmly pinch the edges together to seal.
  3. Cook the pizza waffles: Place one assembled biscuit in the center of the heated waffle maker. Close the lid but do not lock it tightly. Cook for about 2 minutes or until the waffle is golden brown and the cheese inside has melted. Remove carefully and repeat with the remaining biscuits.
  4. Serve with sauce: Warm the jar of pizza sauce or marinara sauce. Serve the crispy pizza waffles hot, accompanied by the warm sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Make sure to seal the edges of the biscuit dough well to prevent cheese and pepperoni from leaking during cooking.
  • You can customize the fillings by adding vegetables like diced bell peppers or olives if desired.
  • If you don’t have a waffle maker, try cooking the assembled biscuits in a skillet over medium heat until golden and cheese is melted inside.
  • Italian seasoning is optional but adds a nice herby flavor to complement the pizza fillings.
  • Use cooking spray generously to prevent sticking to the waffle iron.
