Description

These Philly Cheesesteak Sliders are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or meal featuring tender roasted beef, sautéed onions and green peppers, melted provolone cheese, and buttery Hawaiian rolls baked to golden perfection. Perfect for parties or family dinners, they bring the classic flavors of a Philly cheesesteak in slider form.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls (keep them attached)
  • 2 pounds finely shaved roasted beef
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 ½ cups sweet onion (diced)
  • 1 ½ cups green pepper (diced)
  • 12 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3 teaspoons concentrated beef stock (such as Better than Bouillon)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly coat a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray. Set aside for later use.
  2. Slice Rolls: Using a bread knife, slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally in half, but keep them attached so they hold together as a whole slab.
  3. Arrange Beef on Rolls: Place the bottom half of the sliced rolls into the baking dish and evenly spread the finely shaved roasted beef on top.
  4. Sauté Vegetables: Heat the extra virgin olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced sweet onions and green peppers and cook until they become transparent and tender, about 5 minutes.
  5. Add Vegetables to Dish: Transfer the cooked onions and peppers onto the baking dish over the bed of sliced beef, ensuring even distribution.
  6. Add Cheese and Top Rolls: Layer the provolone cheese slices evenly over the vegetables, slightly overlapping. Then place the top half of the Hawaiian rolls over the cheese layer.
  7. Prepare Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter with the concentrated beef stock and stir until fully dissolved and mixed.
  8. Brush Rolls: Generously brush the seasoned butter mixture over the top of the rolls to ensure flavor and browning.
  9. Bake Sliders: Bake the assembled sliders in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the tops turn golden brown and the cheese has melted thoroughly.

Notes

  • Keep the rolls attached when slicing to maintain slider integrity during baking.
  • You can substitute the shaved roasted beef with thinly sliced steak or cooked ground beef if preferred.
  • If you do not have concentrated beef stock, you can use beef broth or a seasoning mix as an alternative.
  • For a spicier version, consider adding sliced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the vegetable sauté.
  • Serve warm for best flavor and texture; leftover sliders can be reheated in the oven wrapped in foil.
