Description

Peaches and Cream is a simple, refreshing dessert that combines fresh, juicy peaches with a sweet cream syrup for a luscious and light treat. This easy-to-make dessert highlights the natural sweetness of peaches complemented by a creamy, velvety texture — perfect for warm days or as a light finish to any meal.

Ingredients

Fresh Peaches

  • 4 Fresh peaches (use more or less as needed)

Syrup

  • 1/4 cup Sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tbsp Water

Cream

  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups Heavy cream (not whipped)

Instructions

  1. Cut Peaches: Cut the peaches in half along the crease until you reach the pit. Hold the peach in your palm and gently twist to separate the two halves. Loosen and remove the pit with a knife and your fingers. Peel the peaches, then slice them, cutting each slice into halves or your desired size.
  2. Prepare Syrup: If your peaches are not very sweet, prepare a simple syrup by combining sugar and water in a saucepan. Use about a 2:1 sugar to water ratio. Heat the mixture, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Boil for 5 to 8 minutes to form a syrup, then stir in the peach slices to coat them. Let it simmer for another minute, then transfer the peaches and syrup to a bowl and allow to cool completely.
  3. Combine with Cream: Once cooled, transfer the peaches with the syrup to a large mixing bowl. Add the heavy cream and gently stir to combine all flavors.
  4. Chill and Serve: Divide the peaches and cream mixture into individual serving glasses. Cover with plastic wrap and chill overnight, or for at least 3 to 4 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the cream to absorb the peach sweetness. Serve cold or at room temperature if in a hurry.
  5. Alternative No-Syrup Method: Instead of syrup, place peeled, pitted, and sliced peaches directly into serving glasses. Sprinkle each with sugar based on peach sweetness, then pour heavy cream over the top. Cover and chill for at least 3 hours before serving for best results.

Notes

  • Adjust the sugar amount based on the sweetness of your peaches to maintain balanced flavor.
  • The dessert is best served chilled after sufficient refrigeration to allow the cream to absorb the peach flavor.
  • You can peel peaches easier by blanching them briefly in boiling water if preferred.
  • For a lighter option, consider using half-and-half or a reduced-fat cream instead of heavy cream.
  • This recipe serves approximately 8 servings but quantities can be adjusted as needed.
