Ingredients

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 2 large boneless skinless chicken breasts (cut into bite-size strips)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

Vegetables

  • 2 cups fresh green beans (trimmed)
  • 1 yellow bell pepper (cut into strips)

Cooking Fats and Oils

  • 2 tbsp Land O Lakes® Butter with Olive Oil & Sea Salt (divided)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp minced ginger
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • pinch of red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Prepare Chicken: Combine the chicken breast strips, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch in a bowl. Stir until the chicken is evenly coated. Set aside to marinate briefly.
  2. Cook Vegetables: Heat a large non-stick pan or wok over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of Land O Lakes® Butter with Olive Oil & Sea Salt. Add the green beans and stir fry for about 5 minutes until tender and slightly charred. Add the yellow bell pepper strips and cook for an additional 3 minutes until tender. Transfer the cooked vegetables to a plate and keep warm.
  3. Cook Chicken: Return the wok to the stove and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of Land O Lakes® Butter with Olive Oil & Sea Salt and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil. Add the chicken breast strips and cook over medium heat until browned on all sides and cooked through. Transfer the chicken to the plate with the vegetables and keep warm.
  4. Prepare Sauce Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together chicken broth, honey, sugar, rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes until well combined. Set aside.
  5. Sauté Aromatics: Return the wok to medium heat and add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir and cook until fragrant, approximately 30 seconds.
  6. Simmer Sauce: Pour the sauce mixture into the wok, reserving about 2 tablespoons of the sauce for thickening. Heat and stir the sauce until it begins to simmer and the flavors meld, about 3 minutes.
  7. Thicken Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the reserved 2 tablespoons of sauce with the remaining 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and whisk until smooth. Pour this mixture back into the simmering sauce in the wok. Stir continuously until the sauce thickens to a glossy consistency.
  8. Combine and Finish: Return the cooked chicken and vegetables to the wok and toss to coat everything evenly in the thickened sauce.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the sesame seeds on top and serve the stir fry hot, enjoying its perfect balance of sweet, savory, and slightly spicy flavors.
  10. Enjoy! Dig in and savor your homemade Honey Sesame Chicken Stir Fry.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, increase the amount of red pepper flakes according to taste.
  • Use fresh vegetables for best texture; however, frozen green beans may be substituted if fresh are unavailable.
  • Serve over steamed rice or noodles to make it a complete meal.
  • When cooking chicken, avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure even browning.
  • Adjust honey and sugar amounts depending on preferred sweetness.
