Ingredients
Chicken
- 2 skinless chicken breasts (cut in half horizontally)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Sauce
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 3 tablespoons mustard (wholegrain, Dijon, yellow, or your favorite mustard)
- 3 tablespoons butter (melted)
- 2 large garlic cloves (minced)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease the bottom of a baking dish with some butter to prevent sticking.
- Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, combine mustard, honey, melted butter, and minced garlic. Stir well until all ingredients are fully incorporated into a smooth sauce.
- Season and arrange chicken: Season your chicken cutlets evenly with salt and pepper on both sides. Place the chicken pieces in the prepared baking dish in a single layer.
- Brush with sauce: Generously brush the honey mustard sauce over both sides of the chicken breasts, ensuring they are well coated.
- Bake the chicken: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and is cooked through.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve warm. Pair with your favorite side dishes, such as roasted vegetables, rice, or a fresh side salad.
Notes
- For juicier chicken, consider marinating the chicken in the honey mustard sauce for 30 minutes before baking.
- Wholegrain or Dijon mustard adds extra texture and flavor, but yellow mustard works well too.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken is perfectly cooked and safe to eat.
- Butter can be substituted with olive oil for a lighter version.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
