Description

These Greek Burgers with Feta Cheese and Tzatziki Sauce offer a flavorful twist on classic beef hamburgers, infused with Mediterranean herbs and spices. The juicy patties are pan-fried to perfection and paired with a creamy, refreshing homemade tzatziki sauce, making a perfect meal for any occasion.

Ingredients

For the Greek Burgers

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • ½ cup red onion, finely diced
  • ¼ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • ½ tablespoon chopped fresh dill
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: buns, sliced cucumber, onion, and additional crumbled feta for serving

For the Tzatziki Sauce

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup cucumber, diced
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ tablespoon fresh or dried dill
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Make the Tzatziki Sauce: In a medium bowl, combine the plain Greek yogurt, diced cucumber, lemon juice, olive oil, dill, sea salt, and black pepper. Stir thoroughly to blend all the flavors. Cover and refrigerate the sauce while you prepare the burgers to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Prepare the Burger Mixture: Finely dice the red onion and chop the parsley and fresh dill. In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground beef, diced onion, crumbled feta cheese, olive oil, parsley, dill, garlic powder, dried oregano, kosher salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Form Patties: Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into round patties, pressing gently to keep them compact but not too dense.
  4. Pan-Fry the Patties: Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, depending on your desired level of doneness. Avoid pressing down on the patties while cooking to retain juiciness.
  5. Rest the Patties: Remove the cooked patties from the pan and let them rest for 5 minutes. This resting period helps the juices redistribute and keeps the patties moist.
  6. Assemble and Serve: Place each patty on a bun if desired, then top with a generous spoonful of tzatziki sauce, additional crumbled feta, sliced cucumber, and red onion to garnish. Serve immediately and enjoy your flavorful Greek burgers.

Notes

  • You can prepare the tzatziki sauce a few hours ahead of time to enhance the flavor.
  • Adjust herbs and spices according to your preference for more or less intensity.
  • For a lighter option, use lean ground turkey or chicken instead of beef.
  • Serve with a side salad or grilled vegetables for a complete Mediterranean-inspired meal.
  • If serving on buns, lightly toast them for added texture and flavor.
