Ingredients
Pasta
- 1 box (16 oz) cellentani pasta
Meat and Vegetables
- 1 pound lean ground beef (93/7)
- 1 green bell pepper (sliced)
- 1 sweet onion or yellow onion (finely diced)
- 4 cloves garlic (minced or pressed)
Sauce & Seasoning
- 1 bar (8 oz) cream cheese (cubed)
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Topping
- 8 slices provolone cheese
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cellentani pasta and cook according to the package directions, aiming for al dente or a softer texture based on your preference. Drain the pasta without rinsing and set aside.
- Sauté Meat and Vegetables: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef, green bell pepper slices, diced onion, and minced garlic. Cook, stirring and crumbling the beef, until the meat is no longer pink and the vegetables have softened. Drain off any excess grease from the skillet.
- Add Cream Cheese: Stir in the cubed cream cheese to the beef and vegetable mixture. Continue stirring until the cream cheese has melted completely and the mixture is creamy.
- Combine with Broth and Pasta: Pour in the beef broth, then season with kosher salt and black pepper. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, stirring well to combine all ingredients evenly.
- Melt the Provolone Cheese: Lay slices of provolone cheese evenly over the pasta mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and allow the cheese to melt thoroughly. Once melted, stir everything together and serve warm.
Notes
- Do not rinse the pasta after draining to help the sauce cling to it better.
- Adjust the cooking time of the pasta according to your preference for firmness.
- You can substitute beef broth with vegetable broth for a slightly different flavor.
- For a spicier kick, add crushed red pepper flakes during step 2.
- Using lean ground beef reduces grease but still provides plenty of flavor.
