Description

These Apple Pie Taquitos are a delicious and easy dessert featuring soft flour tortillas filled with sweet apple pie filling, rolled up, coated in cinnamon sugar, and baked to golden perfection. A comforting treat perfect for sharing at any gathering.

Ingredients

Tortillas and Filling

  • 12 medium soft flour tortillas
  • 20 ounce apple pie filling (1 can)

Coating and Finishing

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prep the oven and baking dish. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly brush a 9×13 inch baking dish with some of the melted butter to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare the cinnamon sugar mixture and apple filling. In a shallow plate, combine the sugar and cinnamon until evenly mixed. Open the can of apple pie filling and pour it onto a cutting board. Use a knife to chop the apples into smaller, bite-sized pieces for easier filling distribution.
  3. Assemble the taquitos. Lay one flour tortilla flat on a clean surface. Spoon 2 to 3 tablespoons of the chopped apple pie filling onto the lower third of the tortilla. Tightly roll the tortilla around the filling to form a taquito.
  4. Coat the taquitos. Using a pastry brush or spoon, brush the rolled taquito with melted butter. Then gently roll the buttered taquito in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
  5. Arrange in baking dish. Place the coated taquito seam-side down in the prepared baking dish. Repeat the process with the remaining tortillas and apple filling, ensuring all 12 taquitos are assembled and coated.
  6. Bake the taquitos. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until the taquitos turn golden brown and crispy on top.
  7. Serve. Remove from the oven and serve warm. Optionally, drizzle with caramel sauce for extra sweetness and flavor enhancement.

Notes

  • Be sure to use soft flour tortillas to make rolling easier and prevent cracking.
  • Chopping the apple pie filling helps distribute filling evenly and makes the taquitos easier to roll.
  • You can store any leftover baked taquitos in an airtight container and reheat in the oven for crispiness.
  • For a vegan version, substitute butter with a plant-based alternative.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an indulgent dessert.
