Description
A fruity, refreshing spin on traditional sweet tea, this Strawberry Sweet Tea uses real strawberries to create a naturally sweet, vibrant drink perfect for summer sipping.
Ingredients
4 to 5 black tea bags
4 cups water (for brewing tea)
1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced
¾ cup granulated sugar
1 cup water (for making syrup)
1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
Ice cubes, for serving
Additional strawberries, sliced, for garnish
Instructions
- Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add tea bags, and steep for 5–7 minutes. Discard tea bags and cool to room temperature.
- In a saucepan, combine 1 cup strawberries, ¾ cup sugar, and 1 cup water. Simmer for 10 minutes, mashing berries as they soften.
- Strain syrup through a fine mesh strainer, pressing berries to extract juice.
- In a large pitcher, mix cooled tea with the strawberry syrup. Stir in lemon juice if using.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to chill and blend flavors.
- Serve over ice and garnish with sliced strawberries. Stir before serving if needed.
Notes
- Add mint for a refreshing twist.
- Use frozen strawberries if fresh aren’t available.
- Store syrup and tea separately if making ahead.
- Adjust sugar for desired sweetness.
- Substitute green or herbal tea for a lighter flavor profile.
