Description

A fruity, refreshing spin on traditional sweet tea, this Strawberry Sweet Tea uses real strawberries to create a naturally sweet, vibrant drink perfect for summer sipping.

Ingredients

4 to 5 black tea bags

4 cups water (for brewing tea)

1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced

¾ cup granulated sugar

1 cup water (for making syrup)

1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)

Ice cubes, for serving

Additional strawberries, sliced, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add tea bags, and steep for 5–7 minutes. Discard tea bags and cool to room temperature.
  2. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup strawberries, ¾ cup sugar, and 1 cup water. Simmer for 10 minutes, mashing berries as they soften.
  3. Strain syrup through a fine mesh strainer, pressing berries to extract juice.
  4. In a large pitcher, mix cooled tea with the strawberry syrup. Stir in lemon juice if using.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to chill and blend flavors.
  6. Serve over ice and garnish with sliced strawberries. Stir before serving if needed.

Notes

  • Add mint for a refreshing twist.
  • Use frozen strawberries if fresh aren’t available.
  • Store syrup and tea separately if making ahead.
  • Adjust sugar for desired sweetness.
  • Substitute green or herbal tea for a lighter flavor profile.
