Ingredients
Crust
- 36 Golden Oreos
- 6 Tablespoons butter, melted
First Layer (Cream Cheese Layer)
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 8 ounces Cool Whip, thawed
- 1 to 2 Tablespoons cold milk, if needed
- Fresh strawberries, sliced (quantity as needed for layering)
Second Layer (Strawberry Jello Layer)
- 3 ounces strawberry flavored gelatin (1 box Jello)
- ½ cup boiling water
- ½ cup cold water
- 8 ounces Cool Whip, thawed
Topping
- 8 ounces fresh whipped cream or Cool Whip
- 16 ounces fresh strawberries, sliced (plus extra for garnish if desired)
Instructions
- Make crust: Crush 36 Golden Oreos in a food processor or place them in a zip-top bag and crush with a rolling pin until fine crumbs form. Combine the crushed Oreos with 6 tablespoons of melted butter and mix thoroughly. Press this mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch dish. Place the crust in the freezer or refrigerator for 5 minutes to set.
- Cream cheese layer: In a medium bowl, whip the 8 ounces of softened cream cheese until fluffy. Add 1 cup powdered sugar and blend until smooth. Fold in 8 ounces of thawed Cool Whip. If the mixture is too thick, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of cold milk to thin it slightly. Spread this cream cheese mixture evenly over the chilled crust. Layer sliced fresh strawberries on top of this layer. Return to the freezer or refrigerator for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Strawberry jello layer: In a separate bowl, dissolve 3 ounces of strawberry gelatin in ½ cup boiling water, whisking until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Stir in ½ cup cold water. Allow the mixture to cool for 5 to 10 minutes at room temperature, but do not let it set firm. Once cooled, gently fold in 8 ounces of thawed Cool Whip. Spread this jello mixture evenly over the cream cheese and strawberry layer. Place back in the freezer or refrigerator for 20 minutes to allow the jello layer to set.
- Whipped cream topping: Spread 8 ounces of fresh whipped cream or Cool Whip evenly over the set jello layer. For best flavor and texture, homemade whipped cream is preferred if you have the time. Place the entire dessert in the refrigerator and chill for 2 to 3 hours before serving.
- Serve: Remove the strawberry lasagna from the refrigerator just before serving. Garnish with additional sliced fresh strawberries on top. Slice into portions and enjoy this cool, creamy, and fruity dessert.
Notes
- This dessert must be kept refrigerated until serving to maintain its structure and freshness.
- If preferred, use homemade whipped cream for a richer topping instead of store-bought Cool Whip.
- For a firmer crust, press the Oreo crust firmly and refrigerate well before adding layers.
- The jello layer should be cooled but not set before folding in Cool Whip to ensure a smooth texture.
- Use fresh ripe strawberries for the best flavor and presentation.
- This recipe can be made a day ahead; just keep refrigerated and add fresh strawberries right before serving.
