Perfect for sharing at parties or a flavorful snack.
Ingredients
Filling
- 8 ounces cream cheese (at room temperature)
- ¼ cup breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup hot sauce
- ½ red bell pepper, chopped
- ½ green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 jalapeno pepper, chopped
Wrap
- 3 large tortillas (ancient grain whole wheat tortillas recommended)
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350℉ (175℃) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking the sliced tortillas.
- Mix Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, breadcrumbs, and hot sauce. Use a fork to mix until the cream cheese softens and blends evenly with the other ingredients. Then stir in the chopped red bell pepper, green bell pepper, and jalapeno until well incorporated.
- Assemble Tortillas: Lay out the tortillas and evenly spread the cream cheese mixture onto each one, using about one-third of the mixture per tortilla. Sprinkle one-third of the shredded cheddar cheese over the cream cheese layer on each tortilla.
- Roll and Slice: Carefully roll up each tortilla tightly with the filling inside. Slice the rolled tortillas into 1-inch pieces to create bite-sized segments.
- Arrange and Bake: Place the tortilla slices cut-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Bake at 350℉ for 10 minutes to warm through and melt the cheese.
- Broil for Crispiness: After baking, switch the oven to broil and broil the tortilla slices for an additional 3 minutes to achieve a golden, crispy top. Watch closely to prevent burning.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve warm with your choice of salsa or sour cream on the side for dipping.
Notes
- Using room temperature cream cheese makes mixing easier and smoother.
- Adjust the amount of hot sauce to control the spiciness to your liking.
- Be careful when broiling; keep a close eye to avoid burning the tortilla slices.
- These can be made ahead and reheated in the oven before serving.
- Substitute regular flour tortillas if ancient grain whole wheat tortillas are unavailable.
