Ingredients
Pasta and Meat Sauce
- 1 pound spaghetti or linguini
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound sweet Italian sausage (could also use mild or hot)
- 1 jar spaghetti sauce (any kind)
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp butter (for greasing pan)
Alfredo Sauce
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp garlic, minced
- 2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 2 cups parmesan cheese
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 2-3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Boil the Pasta: Fill a large stock pot with water, add about 3 tablespoons of salt, and bring it to a rolling boil. Add the spaghetti or linguini and cook for 10 minutes until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Bake Prep: Preheat your oven to 425°F. Grease an 11×13 inch baking dish with 2 tablespoons of softened butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
- Cook the Meat: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage until fully cooked. Drain excess grease. Season the meat with garlic powder, onion powder, and pepper.
- Simmer Meat Sauce: Pour the jar of spaghetti sauce into the skillet with the meat. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to blend the flavors.
- Make Alfredo Sauce: Using a clean pan, melt the stick of unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Whisk in the heavy whipping cream and parmesan cheese, then add salt and black pepper. Continue whisking until the sauce thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
- Assemble the Dish: Spread the drained pasta evenly in the prepared baking dish. Pour the creamy Alfredo sauce over the pasta, then spoon the simmered meat sauce evenly on top. Finally, top the entire dish with 2 to 3 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese or an Italian cheese blend.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 5 to 10 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your rich and comforting Spaghetti Alfredo!
Notes
- You can substitute linguini or fettuccine for spaghetti if desired.
- Adjust the seasoning in the meat sauce to your taste preference.
- For a spicier dish, use hot Italian sausage instead of sweet.
- If you prefer a thicker Alfredo, allow it to simmer a bit longer while whisking.
- Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days and can be reheated covered in the oven or microwave.
- Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for the best flavor and texture.
