Description
A quick and flavorful recipe for sautéed garlic broccolini, perfect as a nutritious side dish. This sautéed broccolini is tender-crisp, infused with garlic and butter, and brightened with fresh parsley and lemon zest, ready in just 15 minutes.
Ingredients
Vegetables
- 1 pound broccolini
- 3 cloves garlic (chopped or minced)
- chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
- lemon zest (for garnish)
- lemon wedges (for serving)
Other Ingredients
- 1.5 tablespoons butter
- ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ¼ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper (or to taste)
- ½ cup water (or vegetable broth)
Instructions
- Prep: Rinse and pat dry the broccolini. Cut off the bottom third of the broccolini and discard it to remove the toughest parts.
- Cook: Melt the butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. When melted, add the broccolini and sauté for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it turns bright green and the stems are lightly browned.
- Add remaining ingredients: Season the broccolini with salt and pepper. Stir in the chopped garlic to evenly coat the broccolini. Pour in the water, cover the skillet, and cook for 2 minutes until the broccolini is crisp-tender.
- Serve: Remove from heat and transfer the broccolini to a serving plate. Garnish with fresh parsley and lemon zest. Serve with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over.
Notes
- Use vegetable broth instead of water for extra flavor.
- Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
- Do not overcook broccolini to maintain a tender-crisp texture and vibrant color.
- For a vegan version, substitute butter with olive oil.
- Serve immediately for best taste.
