Description

These Popcorn Balls are the perfect combination of crunchy, sweet, and fun! Made with a buttery marshmallow coating, vibrant M&Ms, and festive sprinkles, they’re a delightful treat for any occasion. With a chewy marshmallow texture on the outside and a crunchy popcorn center, they are the perfect balance of flavors and textures.

Ingredients

89 cups popcorn (popped)

1 stick salted butter

1 bag mini marshmallows

¾ teaspoon alcohol-free vanilla extract

1 cup red/green M&Ms

¼ cup red/green sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Add the popped popcorn to a large bowl.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat.
  3. Add the mini marshmallows and vanilla extract to the melted butter. Stir continuously until everything is melted and smooth.
  4. Remove the marshmallow mixture from the heat and pour it over the popcorn. Stir gently until the popcorn is well-coated.
  5. Allow the popcorn mixture to cool slightly before adding the M&Ms and sprinkles. Stir well using a rubber spatula.
  6. To avoid sticky hands, wear gloves or rub a little olive oil on your hands before shaping the mixture into balls.
  7. Form the coated popcorn into balls of your preferred size.
  8. Let the popcorn balls cool to room temperature (about 5 minutes) before bagging them for storage or serving.

Notes

  • Candy Variations: Swap the M&Ms for any candy of your choice, like Reese’s Pieces, Skittles, or chopped chocolate.
  • Flavor Add-ins: Add a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, or a drizzle of caramel for extra flavor.
  • Dietary Adjustments: For a dairy-free version, substitute the butter with a plant-based butter and use dairy-free marshmallows.
