Description

These no-bake Muddy Buddy Rice Krispie Treats combine the classic crispy texture of Rice Krispies with rich peanut butter and chocolate, all coated in powdered sugar for an irresistibly sweet and crunchy dessert. Perfect for quick gatherings or an easy homemade treat, these bars are fun to make and even more fun to eat!

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Optional Coating

  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar (for shaking) or ½ cup (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Melt Chocolate and Peanut Butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips and ½ cup creamy peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is fully melted and smooth.
  2. Add Butter and Vanilla: Melt ¼ cup butter separately and stir it into the chocolate-peanut butter mixture along with 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly to combine all the ingredients into a smooth blend.
  3. Coat Cereal: Add 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal to the melted mixture. Gently fold the cereal in until every piece is evenly coated with the chocolate and peanut butter mixture, taking care not to crush the cereal.
  4. Press into Pan: Transfer the coated cereal mixture into a greased or parchment-lined 9×13-inch or jelly roll pan. Press the mixture firmly and evenly into the pan so it forms a compact layer.
  5. Set and Cool: Allow the mixture to cool completely and set at room temperature. This helps the bars firm up and hold their shape for slicing.
  6. Slice and Coat with Powdered Sugar: Once set, slice into bars. For a sweeter coating, place the bars in a Ziplock bag with 1 ½ cups powdered sugar and shake until evenly coated. Alternatively, sprinkle ½ cup powdered sugar over the bars for a lighter dusting.

Notes

  • Use parchment paper to line the pan for easy removal of the treats.
  • Pressing the mixture firmly into the pan helps the bars hold together and makes slicing easier.
  • Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
  • Microwave times may vary; melt ingredients carefully to avoid burning chocolate.
  • For a nuttier flavor, try using natural peanut butter or add chopped peanuts into the mixture.
