Description
These Jalapeno Popper Crescent Pinwheels are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer featuring creamy, cheesy jalapeño filling wrapped in buttery crescent roll dough. Perfect for parties or a savory snack, they bake to golden perfection with a spicy kick.
Ingredients
For the Crescent Dough:
- 2 packages crescent rolls (8 oz each)
For the Filling:
- 16 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 8 oz can of diced jalapeños, drained
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, diced jalapeños, and granulated sugar until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
- Roll Out Dough: Unroll one package of crescent dough onto a clean surface and carefully pinch the seams to create one continuous sheet.
- Spread Filling: Evenly spread half of the cream cheese and jalapeño mixture over the rolled-out crescent dough, covering the entire surface.
- Form the Log: Starting at one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log shape, sealing the edges as you go.
- Repeat: Repeat steps 2-4 with the second package of crescent dough and remaining filling.
- Freeze the Logs: Place both logs in the freezer for 30 minutes to 1 hour. This firms them up for easier slicing.
- Preheat Oven: While the logs freeze, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Slice the Logs: Using a sharp knife or dental floss, gently slice each log into 12 even rounds, creating the pinwheels.
- Arrange on Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the pinwheels about 2 inches apart to allow for expansion during baking.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the pinwheels are golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and transfer to a cooling rack. Serve warm or at room temperature for best flavor.
Notes
- Drain the diced jalapeños well to prevent excess moisture from making the crescent rolls soggy.
- For a milder version, substitute jalapeños with milder peppers or reduce the amount used.
- Use dental floss to slice the logs cleanly without squishing the pinwheels.
- These can be made ahead of time and stored frozen before baking.
- Serve with ranch dressing or sour cream for extra flavor.
