Ingredients

  • ½ cup frozen blueberries
  • 2 Tbsp white sugar
  • 1 Tbsp cold water
  •  tsp matcha powder
  •  Tbsp hot water
  • ¾ cup almond milk
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine frozen blueberries, sugar, and cold water. Blend until smooth (or use alternative purée method).
  2. Whisk matcha powder with hot water until frothy using a matcha whisk or frother.
  3. Spoon blueberry purée into the bottom of a glass. Add ice cubes on top.
  4. Slowly pour in almond milk over the ice.
  5. Gently pour matcha over milk to create layers. Serve immediately, stirred or as-is.

Notes

  • Use oat, soy, or dairy milk as a substitute for almond milk.
  • Replace sugar with honey, maple syrup, or stevia for different sweetness levels.
  • Use mango, strawberries, or raspberries in place of blueberries.
  • Prepare blueberry purée in advance and refrigerate up to 3 days.
  • Pour each layer slowly over the back of a spoon to keep them separated.
