Description

A refreshing herbal iced tea combining tart hibiscus, citrusy lemongrass, fresh basil, and natural honey, brightened with lime juice and served over ice for a perfect warm-weather beverage.


Ingredients

5 cups water

1 lemongrass stalk, thinly sliced (plus extra for garnish)

¼ cup honey (or maple syrup/coconut sugar for vegan option)

½ cup dried hibiscus flowers

¾ cup loosely packed fresh basil leaves (plus extra for garnish)

¼ cup fresh-squeezed lime juice (plus lime slices for garnish)


Instructions

  1. Bring 5 cups of water to a boil in a medium pot.
  2. Remove from heat and add sliced lemongrass, honey or sweetener, hibiscus flowers, and basil leaves.
  3. Cover and steep for 20 minutes.
  4. Strain into a pitcher, discarding solids.
  5. Stir in lime juice and adjust sweetness if desired.
  6. Chill in refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  7. Serve over ice with garnishes of lemongrass stalk, basil leaves, and lime slices.
