Description
A refreshing herbal iced tea combining tart hibiscus, citrusy lemongrass, fresh basil, and natural honey, brightened with lime juice and served over ice for a perfect warm-weather beverage.
Ingredients
5 cups water
1 lemongrass stalk, thinly sliced (plus extra for garnish)
¼ cup honey (or maple syrup/coconut sugar for vegan option)
½ cup dried hibiscus flowers
¾ cup loosely packed fresh basil leaves (plus extra for garnish)
¼ cup fresh-squeezed lime juice (plus lime slices for garnish)
Instructions
- Bring 5 cups of water to a boil in a medium pot.
- Remove from heat and add sliced lemongrass, honey or sweetener, hibiscus flowers, and basil leaves.
- Cover and steep for 20 minutes.
- Strain into a pitcher, discarding solids.
- Stir in lime juice and adjust sweetness if desired.
- Chill in refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
- Serve over ice with garnishes of lemongrass stalk, basil leaves, and lime slices.

- Adjust sweetness after steeping for better control of flavor.
