Description

This Grilled Shrimp recipe is quick, flavorful, and packed with a tangy citrus kick. With perfectly seasoned shrimp grilled to juicy perfection, this dish is an excellent choice for a weeknight meal, a barbecue, or a light seafood dinner. Whether you serve them on their own or as part of a larger meal, these grilled shrimp are sure to impress.

Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

3 tablespoons olive oil

23 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (about half a lemon)

2 teaspoons Old Bay seasoning

1/21 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

1/2 teaspoon smoked or sweet paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the shrimp: Clean and rinse the shrimp under cold water, then pat them dry with paper towels. Optionally, remove the tails.
  2. Make the marinade: In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, red pepper flakes (if using), paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Marinate the shrimp: Add the shrimp to the marinade, tossing gently to coat evenly. Let them sit for 10–15 minutes (no more than 30 minutes) to absorb the flavors.
  4. Grill the shrimp: Heat the grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates or skillet to prevent sticking.
  5. Cook the shrimp: Place the shrimp on the grill and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until they turn pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook, as shrimp cook quickly.
  6. Rest and serve: Let the shrimp rest for 1–2 minutes before serving. Arrange them on a platter, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve with extra lemon wedges for squeezing.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sauté the shrimp in sun-dried tomato oil or add extra herbs like thyme and rosemary to the marinade.
  • If you prefer more spice, increase the red pepper flakes or add cayenne pepper.
  • For a smoky flavor, add smoked paprika to the marinade.
  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauces like garlic butter or aioli.
  • Skewer the shrimp for easy grilling and serving.
