Description

This creamy and garlicky white pizza sauce is a delightful alternative to traditional red sauce, packed with Parmesan cheese and Italian herbs. Perfect for spreading on your pizza crust to create an unforgettable pizza experience.

Ingredients

White Pizza Sauce:

  • 2 tbsps (28 g) butter
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic (about 4 cloves)
  • 2 tbsps (1 g) cornstarch
  • 1 cup (250 ml) half and half
  • 1/2 cup (29 g) freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsps Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp finely ground sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp dried oregano leaves
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  1. Melt Butter and Sauté Garlic: In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, approximately 1 minute.
  2. Add Cornstarch: Whisk in the cornstarch gradually to avoid lumps, ensuring it is fully incorporated with the butter and garlic mixture.
  3. Incorporate Half and Half: Pour in the half and half while whisking continuously until combined. Lower the heat to low and let the sauce simmer, stirring frequently, for 3 to 5 minutes, or until it thickens to your preferred consistency. If the sauce is too thin, continue cooking a few more minutes; if too thick, add a splash more half and half.
  4. Add Parmesan Cheese: Turn off the heat and immediately add the freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Whisk until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
  5. Season the Sauce: Stir in the Italian seasoning, sea salt, black pepper, dried oregano leaves, and onion powder evenly throughout the sauce.
  6. Use or Store: Spread the sauce on your pizza crust immediately for best results. If not using right away, let it cool and then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Adjust the consistency of the sauce by varying the simmering time or adding more half and half.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best flavor and smooth texture.
  • This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat gently on the stove or microwave before using if stored.
  • Add fresh herbs on top of the pizza for an extra burst of flavor.
