Description

These crispy homemade chicken egg rolls are bursting with bold Asian-inspired flavor and make the perfect appetizer or snack. Stuffed with a savory mix of ground chicken, cabbage, and seasonings, they’re deep-fried until golden and crunchy. Ideal for parties, game days, or takeout-style dinners at home, this recipe is easy to follow and packed with flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

½ pound ground chicken

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

½ teaspoon minced garlic

½ teaspoon minced ginger

½ cup finely chopped celery

2 cups coleslaw mix

3 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil

1 tablespoon sriracha

½ cup chopped green onions

12 egg roll wrappers

Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add garlic, ginger, and celery. Sauté until fragrant.
  2. Add coleslaw mix and cook until cabbage wilts.
  3. Stir in ground chicken, oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, and sriracha. Cook for 3–4 minutes, breaking up the chicken, until fully cooked and moisture evaporates.
  4. Mix in green onions and remove from heat. Let the filling cool slightly.
  5. To assemble, place a wrapper with a corner facing you. Spoon 1 tablespoon of filling near the bottom corner. Fold the corner over the filling, fold in the sides, and roll up tightly. Seal the edge with water or beaten egg. Repeat with remaining wrappers.
  6. Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (about 2 inches deep). Fry egg rolls 4–5 at a time until golden and crispy, about 3–4 minutes per batch.
  7. Drain on paper towels or a wire rack. Serve hot with sweet chili sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Make ahead by prepping the filling and wrappers a day in advance.
  • Bake at 400°F or air fry at 375°F for a healthier version.
  • Swap chicken for pork, shrimp, tofu, or mushrooms.
  • Seal the wrappers tightly to prevent filling from leaking during frying.
  • Let filling cool before wrapping to avoid soggy wrappers.
