Description
Delicious and easy-to-make chocolate truffles crafted from sweetened condensed milk, semi-sweet chocolate, and marshmallows, dipped in melted chocolate and garnished with optional crushed graham crackers or nuts. These treats are perfect for any chocolate lover and require minimal ingredients and effort.
Ingredients
Truffle Filling
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 ounces)
- 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate morsels
- 12 regular size marshmallows
Coating and Garnish
- 16 ounces chocolate melting wafers or chocolate bark (melted)
- ¼ cup crushed graham crackers or chopped nuts (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare Chocolate Mixture: In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Microwave the mixture in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each interval, for about 1 minute until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth. Then add the marshmallows and microwave for an additional 30 to 60 seconds until the mixture is smooth and homogenous.
- Chill the Mixture: Refrigerate the chocolate mixture for 2 hours to allow it to firm up, making it easier to scoop and shape.
- Form Truffles: Using a small metal scoop or about 1 tablespoon measure, drop spoonfuls of the chilled chocolate filling onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Place the shaped truffles in the freezer for 1 hour to set.
- Coat Truffles: Using a toothpick, dip each frozen truffle into the melted chocolate coating. Gently tap the side of the bowl to remove any excess chocolate. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle with crushed graham crackers or chopped nuts if desired.
- Store Truffles: Allow the coating to set, then store the truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer until ready to serve. Enjoy this luscious treat!
Notes
- For best results, use high-quality semi-sweet chocolate and melting wafers for a smooth coating.
- You can substitute marshmallows with marshmallow fluff if preferred.
- If you are not a fan of graham crackers or nuts, the truffles can be enjoyed plain without garnish.
- Freeze time helps the truffles hold their shape and makes dipping easier.
- Store truffles in a cool place to prevent melting, especially during warm weather.
