Ingredients

Tofu Preparation

  • 14 ounces extra-firm tofu

Marinade and Coating

  • ½ tablespoon avocado oil
  • 2 tablespoons tamari
  • ½ teaspoon sriracha
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch


Instructions

  1. Press the tofu: Wrap the block of tofu in a kitchen towel or paper towels and place a heavy cast iron skillet or weight on top. Let it sit for 30 minutes to remove excess water which helps the tofu crisp better during cooking.
  2. Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 400°F (204°C) and allow it to fully preheat to ensure even cooking and optimal crispiness.
  3. Marinate and coat the tofu: In a large bowl, whisk together avocado oil, tamari, and sriracha. Cut the pressed tofu into cubes and gently toss in the marinade to coat evenly. Sprinkle cornstarch over the tofu and toss again to create a light coating that crisps up nicely in the air fryer.
  4. Air fry the tofu: Place the tofu cubes in a single layer inside the air fryer basket, making sure they do not touch or overlap to allow air to circulate. Air fry for 11 to 15 minutes, flipping the cubes halfway through the cooking time, until tofu is golden brown and crisp on the edges. Depending on air fryer size, cook in batches if needed.
  5. Serve and enjoy: Once crispy and golden, remove the tofu from the air fryer and serve immediately. Use as a protein-packed addition to salads, grain bowls, stir-fries, or enjoy as a crispy snack.
