Description

Chile Mango Mexican Candy Shots are a vibrant and refreshing blend of sweet mango, tangy lime, and spicy chile-lime seasoning combined with tequila for a uniquely delicious cocktail experience. Perfect for parties or a fun twist on traditional shots, these colorful shots bring together tropical flavors with a spicy kick, garnished with chamoy and sweetened dried mango for an authentic Mexican-inspired treat.

Ingredients

Rim and Garnish

  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar (coarse, such as turbinado or demerara)
  • 2 teaspoons chile-lime seasoning (such as Tajín Clásico Seasoning)
  • 1 wedge lime (or lime juice)
  • mango wedges (sweetened and dried)

Shot Mixture

  • 4 ounces mango (frozen chunks, about 1 cup)
  • 2 ounces mango-flavored orange juice (such as Simply Orange Juice with Mango)
  • 2 ounces tequila (silver, such as Olmeca Altos Plata Tequila)
  • ½-ounce agave nectar (such as Tres Agaves Organic Agave Nectar)
  • 3 tablespoons chamoy (such as Tajín Chamoy Mild Sauce)

Instructions

  1. Make the Tajín-Sugar Rim: On a shallow plate, mix together the granulated sugar and chile-lime seasoning thoroughly to create the Tajín-sugar rim mixture.
  2. Prepare the Glass Rim: Dip the rim of each shot glass into lime juice or swipe a lime wedge around the glass rim to moisten it. Then dip the dampened rim into the prepared Tajín-sugar mixture, ensuring the entire rim is evenly coated for a flavorful, spicy edge.
  3. Make the Shots: In a blender or using a handheld immersion blender, combine the frozen mango chunks, mango-flavored orange juice, silver tequila, and agave nectar. Blend the ingredients until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Add Chamoy and Serve: Drizzle about 2 teaspoons of chamoy along the inside of each shot glass. Immediately fill the glass with the mango tequila mixture to keep the chamoy visually distinct and flavorful.
  5. Garnish: Optionally, run a lime wedge along a piece of sweetened dried mango, then dip it into the chile-lime seasoning. Place this garnished mango wedge on top of the shot glass for an attractive and tasty finish.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use fresh lime juice rather than bottled.
  • Adjust the amount of agave nectar for desired sweetness.
  • Frozen mango chunks give the shots a chilled and creamy texture.
  • Chamoy sauce adds a sweet, salty, and tangy depth typical of Mexican candy and snacks.
  • This recipe can be made ahead by preparing the mango mixture and keeping it chilled until serving.
