Description
This Brioche French Toast features thick, golden slices of buttery brioche soaked in a cinnamon-vanilla custard and pan-fried to crisp perfection. It’s a decadent, easy breakfast perfect for brunch or special mornings.
Ingredients
4 slices brioche bread (¾ to 1 inch thick)
2 large eggs
1/4 cup whole milk
2 tbsp heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
1 tbsp unsalted butter (for frying)
Optional toppings: powdered sugar, fresh berries, whipped cream, maple syrup
Instructions
- Slice brioche into thick pieces. If fresh, let dry out for 30 minutes.
- Whisk eggs, milk, cream, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl until smooth.
- Dip each slice of bread in the custard for 30–40 seconds per side.
- Heat butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Cook soaked slices for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Serve hot, topped with powdered sugar, berries, whipped cream, or syrup as desired.
Notes
- Use slightly stale brioche for best texture.
- Stuff with cream cheese or Nutella before dipping for a richer twist.
- Try coconut crusted: press soaked slices into shredded coconut before frying.
- Bake instead of fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Store leftovers in fridge for up to 3 days; reheat in toaster or oven.
