Description

A warm and comforting batch of air-fried apple fritters made with cinnamon-spiced batter and chopped apples, then finished with a simple glaze. Perfectly crisp outside and tender inside, ideal for a breakfast treat or dessert.

Ingredients

1½ cups plain flour (180 g)

¼ cup white sugar (50 g)

2 teaspoons baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

1½ teaspoons cinnamon powder

⅓ cup full-fat milk (80 ml)

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla essence

2 teaspoons lemon juice

2 tablespoons butter, melted (unsalted)

2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and chopped (about 2¾ cups or 335 g)

For The Glaze:

1 cup icing sugar (120 g)

3 tablespoons full-fat milk

1 teaspoon vanilla essence

1 tablespoon butter, melted (unsalted)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. In another bowl, mix milk, eggs, vanilla essence, and lemon juice.
  2. Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture, add melted butter, and stir until fully combined. Fold in chopped apples.
  3. Preheat air fryer to 375°F. Line basket with parchment paper and lightly spray with nonstick spray.
  4. Scoop four leveled ¼-cup portions of batter into the basket. Air fry for 8 minutes, flip, and cook for 3 more minutes. Cool on wire rack. Repeat with remaining batter.
  5. Whisk icing sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth, then stir in melted butter to make the glaze.
  6. Dip warm fritters into glaze, allow to drip on rack, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Parchment paper helps prevent sticking in the air fryer.
  • Glaze can be made ahead and stored in the fridge.
  • Use different fruit like pears or peaches for variety.
  • Add nutmeg or cardamom for a flavor twist.
