Delightful Apple Brie Crostini featuring toasted baguette slices topped with melted creamy brie, fresh apple slices, toasted walnuts, a hint of cayenne pepper, honey drizzle, and fresh thyme garnish. Perfect as an elegant appetizer or snack combining sweet, savory, and spicy flavors.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1/2 of a baguette, about 12 slices
- 12 slices of brie cheese, about 1/2 inch thick, rind on or off
- 1/2 of an apple, cut into 12 thin slices
- 3 tablespoons toasted chopped walnuts
- Cayenne pepper, for sprinkling on top (optional)
- Honey, for drizzling
- Fresh thyme leaves, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleanup, though this step is optional.
- Prepare the Baguette and Brie: Arrange the baguette slices evenly on the baking sheet. Place one slice of brie cheese on top of each baguette slice.
- Bake the Crostini: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 6 to 8 minutes until the brie has melted nicely over the bread.
- Prepare the Apple Slices: While the crostini bake, slice the half apple into 12 thin slices, ready for topping.
- Add Toppings and Serve: Remove the crostini from the oven. Immediately top each with one apple slice, a sprinkle of cayenne pepper if using, toasted chopped walnuts, fresh thyme leaves, and drizzle honey generously over the top. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- For easier removal after baking, using parchment paper is recommended but optional.
- Adjust the cayenne pepper according to your heat preference or omit for a milder flavor.
- Use a crisp and slightly tart apple variety like Granny Smith for balanced flavor.
- Serve crostini warm to enjoy the melted brie texture best.
- These crostini are perfect for entertaining guests as an appetizer or party snack.
